The Royal Society of Medicine is hosting a free three-part webinar series to discuss carer-friendly practice in different clinical settings.
The events are being chaired by Dame Phillipa Russell, with a panel of speakers at each session, including some of our colleagues! The NHS relies on unpaid carers, both in supporting patients and in our own workforce. Yet the needs of unpaid carers can be overlooked or taken for granted. This short webinar series will identify the markers of carer-friendly practice in both the hospital and general practice settings and set out how the NHS needs to recognise and support carers in its own ranks.
The aim of the series is to promote understanding of carer-friendly practice, whether those unpaid carers are supporting patients; in need of care and support in their own right or themselves working for the NHS. Such improved understanding should lead to better retention of staff, improved support for carers and better outcomes for patients.
